People must apply for a street test on the IMS website. They will be informed by e-mail if they qualify and make an appointment. Class 5 candidates need a driver who lives in the same household. The supervising driver is there for safety and cannot help the candidate during their exam. The examiner gives instructions to the student on a hands-free phone. This should only be used for the test, as new drivers are prohibited from using mobile phones during the journey. Customers who qualify for a road test are informed by e-mail and must, in the case of Class 5 candidates, file a signed agreement and a declaration of renunciation as well as a declaration of renunciation from their driver in charge. (These forms are also available here.) Customers then book their route test with an appointment manager.
